Photographs showing guest speakers addressing the audience at the Margaret Mead Memorial Program on Jan. 20, 1979. U.N. Ambassador Andrew Young, Barbara Walters, P. Nash, G. Peil, D. Thomas, R. Buckminster Fuller, J. Anderson Mattfeld, J. Mayer, Thomas D. Nicholson, W.D. Carey, and Gregory Bateson (1904-1980) were among the participants in the ceremony. A Presidential Medal of Freedom, awarded posthumously to Mead, was accepted by her daughter, Catherine Bateson at the event. Photographs were taken by Peter Goldberg. Photographs are identified.
